He is a good boi
Did they figure it out with a chip?
I hope someone pranks the dognapper by beating the shit out of ‘em, as a prank.
Hello hooman! I have much story. Very adventure.
Define dognapped....I live in Detroit and if I saw a cute boy roaming without a collar I’d scoop him up and give him a home in a second
The napper opened his car door and took off without even looking around for an owner or posting to social media to try and return him.
Maybe put a collar on him
I love me some slapdick comedy.
JUST A PRANK BRO
I don't want to sound like "that guy" but what if person just found a dog wandering and were thinking they're saving it from being dumped?
And were trying to rename it? Didn't look for the owner?
You put up "found dog" notices
If you find a dog you take it to the vet to see if it’s microchipped. You don’t take it to a petsmart trying to rename it
We only have one side of the story. If I found a dog Friday evening would have to wait till morning to go to vets, right? How you walk dog -
With no leash/collar? Things happen and I'm not assuming they were trying to steal the dog without more evidence
How do you know this?
I have to be honest. When we found our dog dirty on the streets we didn't do a big campaign to find her previous owners. Just asked a 1/2
2/2 few people from the neighborhood and they told us she's been wandering for a while and we should take her.
Why kidnap a dog? Go to the shelter and adopt one!
You seem to have forgotten one very important fact, people are hella dumb.
(1/1)k, lynch mob, but how is it kidnapping if you find an abandoned animal on the street with no collar? Fuck the OG owners, least the perp
He prob just found a dog with NO COLLAR and decided to give him a home. And then found out he was someone's pet and returned him.
(2/2) buying him I.D. and provisions
(5/7) I don't understand fractions
I can see that but normally it's not the gorgeous well fed and groomed golden that people are dumping
And also people may not know about pet microchips if they've never had a dog before
Go Petsmart! Rarely do people care enough to act
Usually the first thing you do is take the dog to a vet to see if microchipped & they can contact previous owner...
The first thing you do is take the dog to a vet to see if microchipped, not steal someone’s property...
That's what I was thinking. No way to tell.
How did they know dude was changing his name? It's he chipped?
Yeah let's not crucify the guy immediately. It's not like there's not shelters full of dogs exactly like this one if he wanted to dognap.
why should I care
But then he'd have to pay for it!
First step should have been to check for a microchip though. Didn’t seem like they put any effort into finding if it had an owner
Well to be fair, shelters can require a lot of info. You need to pay, they inspect your home, they may spot check you, they keep a file on
you and will not allow you any other dogs. They need the dog microchipped. However it is very true that he should not be crucified.
Not all animals are chipped.
Yep. Not all lost dogs are escaping an abusive household. Most owners are missing their dogs & would love to have their home right again.
Well, I'll start searching Germany.
Or the dog has no chip...
Is there footage of this?
Did you not read the text... seriously.
Rvt here. You'd be surprised how many people have no idea what chipping is or that it even exists
Sure here in Ireland, most do not chip. You are meant to chip dogs by law but no one really does it.
That’s a rare possibility nowadays...
People are shitty, but that doesn't mean they are always evil, just selfish and careless
I don't know what it's like elsewhere but here in the UK it is now law to have your dog microchipped
How do you know that? I mean legitly, do you actually have stats or is this a feeling?
Yeah same in Ireland but barely anyone does it.
...so take him to the local no-kill shelter and hit pause of the dog napping. Look at that dog. It’s clearly not a stray.
Did they say it's chipped? Most dogs aren't.
Wouldn't really know that depending on the condition he was found in. Found a dirty and mud covered dog once who turned out to be chipped.
That’s fair... but step 1: check for a chip
Chip = a small subdermal radio chip which can be read via scanner dispaying the owners info.
Or a tasty treat best served with melted cheese.
You're very lucky... I lost one just like him a long time ago. Never saw him again and I've never gotten over it. I hope he had a good life.
Probably went to visit the falls and judge those fools who swam at its base and left garbage.
Still, they were already trying to give a full grown dog a new name and had obviously not even checked with the local animal shelters.
He found an obviously adult dog and without checking with the local shelters, tried to make it their own. Sorry, but that's shady af to me.
Still, the local shelters had information on the missing dog. It would have been identified if they had tried.
You. Prank style. To death. You know. Prankily.
Yeah.. Thumbs up
My gorgeous, well groomed and black lab was dumped. Shes the cuddliest dog ever
Not in the US.
Keep the fuck lookout for them to do this shit again.
I’ve worked with pets in veterinary offices, shelters & charities for over 2 decades...
What a shitty person to steal someone's dog, I hope he gets locked up.
We worry about someone taking our golden. She’d get in the car with anybody.
Maybe not everyone knows this.
More than once I've turned in a dog that I found with no identifying marks.
BUT, he didn’t even try! That’s the point. He didn’t go to shelters asking about lost dogs or to the veterinarians; he just decided to steal
they probably found the dog stray, did the imgur thing where they keep it and assume it was abused and abandoned
He still could’ve gone to shelters & veterinarians to ask about lost dogs like in the olden days, lol; this dude didn’t make any effort
how many imgur posts have you seen about this exact thing from the thief's perspective?
What kind of living hell is it to go around reading things and just ignoring a third of it, all the while wondering why people call you a /1
I would finish but you've probably lost the plot already.
I'm going to comb usersub to find the "i found an abused and abandoned dog" post from the thief
he came in to buy a collar, talking about the dog he found abandoned. petsmart guy had seen the posters
"the dog wasn't dumped, owner is looking for him. theres a poster outside with the contact info" "oh, ok then"
That's a pretty damn well kept dog. See it running around residential area looking that nice, bullshit you think it's stray even w/o collar.
1/2 No joke, dog got out and we saw painters across the street trying to shove him on their van. Got our large viking neighbor to get him
When you say rename him, do you mean on his ID chip?
2/2 back. Everyone was in tears just thinking about never seeing our good boy again. He has a collar/microchip and is in great health too!
and laugh at the retraction. you're both idiots
No need to be passive aggressive, I can ask where you get your info lol
Some people are innocently dumb but who knows what actually happened in this case.
For those people saying, “what if he thought the dog was a stray?” THERE WERE POSTERS AROUND THE AREA AND IT WENT VIRAL OF THE DOG MISSING.
You were aggressive claiming that I just had a “feeling”; I simply gave you my experience, sorry you can’t handle the truth...
Look, I found a bike abandoned in front of a store! It must be my lucky day! And this abandoned phone on the bus!
lmao alright old man
"Do not attribute to malice that which can equally bee explained by ignorance" is an excellent quote that fits here.
Mellow is Yellow
There are shelters that inspect your home?
I’ve found a dog by a busy road and put her in the car but also knocked on doors in the area. Owners were careless but they lived nearby.
He was trying to rename the dog at a local PetSmart, he only returned it because the employees gestured him to.
And that's when the old guns woulda come out.
It takes surprisingly little time for a loose dog to look feral running in muddy ditches or woods. They could have washed him before pics.
It's possible he picked up the dog and went by a vet right away before the dog was reported missing, and if no chip, then why not adopt?
This. A LOT of people want to be the hero who rescues a stray animal and sometimes they don't really WANT anyone to claim it so they'll 1/2
I know it's kinda rare not to be chipped, but I'm just saying, we dont know he had bad intentions. Maybe just a softy for dogs. He did seem
just not advertise and claim that they're a better home anyway. Hell, I've seen posts here on Imgur where people just... found a random 2/3
To return it willingly once he found out.
dog/cat and posted with every intention of just keeping it & claiming that whoever owned it obviously didn't love it, etc etc 3/3
Yep. 5+ page application, home inspection & $95 fee. Then they wonder why ppl don’t adopt. You can get them free from ads or word of mouth.
I know, and the prank would be great if they used (get this) a real baseball bat instead of a foam one! Hilarious!
I think it's fair to be that guy. Stealing a dog is seriously dickish, and I'd hate to wrongly accuse someone if it's a misunderstanding.
Don't all people just get dogs from the pound where they're all chipped? Because they should.
I mean they should be. but the last estimate I saw was that less than a third of dogs in the US are chipped. Could be more or less elsewhere
dude, the fk is your problem, your like "do you have stats or a feeling" hes like "this si my job" and your being a dick
Legally property, realistically family.
You don't read good do you buddy.
You cared enough to comment. if you don't care hit the next button. not hard. for normal people anyway. apparently for you its a struggle.
Put a microchip on your pets and keep the registration updated.
They... Explained why he had no collar tho. Like. I'm sorry you can't read.
Please go back to school and learn to read.
Not in my neck of the woods. $65 fee and a 1 page app
Or people know that's a thing
The posters were not up at the time he thought it was a stray. And not everyone in online or even looks at posters on poles.
Thus spake hetnkik999, and it was so.
You are lucky then. I do get making sure pet goes to a good home but being unreasonable does more harm than good.
With a rubber hose.
So you just let your dog roam wild without a collar and are surprised someone picked him up? Jesus you're fucking dumb.
Either way, that person has no right to steal it; Why can’t people treat others the way they would want to be treated & do the proper steps?
Tell me the sad POS's name, I'll go for a long ride and prank him into a messy puddle. No permanent physical damage.
I’m not a man you self righteous twat; thx for making me look better & yourself look like a complete tool, lmfao!
I didn't until my first dog
First comment ever. Dundas is my home town and I’m a big dog lover. Very glad to hear you guys got your pup back.
Potentially quite a fee "Look at this awesome rescue I found on some street! I shall name him Fluffy and he shall be mine!"
Quite a few*
Jeez, you live so close to me.
I didn't until 15 seconds ago
Cunt* lol you white knighting or what?
lol I called you old man as a way to troll you. Trust me it is obvious by your hormonal outburst that you are female. Worked better than
I had expected AND you even got your own white knight! It's so cute!
In the UK and also in Ireland. Though the UK one is way more length. If you want to adopt a cat you HAVE to get two! They said to my sister
in law that cats do not like to be on their own. Of all animals to not be left alone, it is not a cat, I mean a dog is more in that category
than a cat! Christ my cat gets positively depressed if another cat is in the house. Had to foster some kittens I found on the road. She
hated it lol
Sure I wouldn't bother going to those places, just ask locally if anyone is giving away puppies/kittens. One place was €100 AND I had to
pay to get them spayed plus all their injections. Other places charge less and provide them to you spayed/neutered and with their jabs. It
makes sense as they pay a vet to do a load of them at the one time. Works out far cheaper and they get a grant/subsidised for that.
i was agreeing with you. and because most people are terrible and should be throw off a cliff?
Im sure many people have no idea dogs are chipped. Also, i bet most dogs in my neighborhood are not. St. Louis City.
you sound angry, maybe you should go take a nap and relax.
lmao you gonna go tip your fedora to the lady?
less then a minute, how long did you sit there, quivering, waiting for an answer. i didn't even have to to close my browser, pathetic
please enjoy sitting here in impotent rage while being ignored as you deserve.
lmao you did the same thing dumbass. I opportunely happened to be replying to other people. I get to fuck around while rendering :)
We have similar cat rescue places here in Finland :o have to pay 100€ per adult cat, and they have an age limit of +21 years old.
Loads of dogs get microchipped by the shelter when they get adopted. It’s part of the fee. You should always assume the dog is chipped.
Most dogs aren’t? Where I live all bought puppies get microchipped during their first vet visit. Most, if not all shelters get chipped
It’s almost become a requirement these days.
The part about "trying to change it's name" seems overdramatic and confusing. There is no legal process for that. You just call it something
Still a better person than those who don't give a fuck about wandering dog.
That drives me bonkers! If you don’t have money to buy a pet how can you afford food and vet care?!?
So you openly admit to being a troll? Could you be any more pathetic? Way to project your username onto others, LMFAO!
Others just see how delusional you are & choose to call you out on it; enjoy your self made drama...
No, sorry, I didn’t mean you, just how so many were quick to defend this guy who didn’t make any effort to find the dog’s owners...:-)
where exactly is that? last time I saw an estimate, it was that only about a third or less are chipped in the US.
My dog is chipped but i cpuldnt remember the id so i took him to vets and asked if they could scan him. Said i tried it at tescos.
But he shows up as a bag of potatos :) they laughed
Everyone knows google
If you have no idea microchips exist you don't know to go searching for them.
He was told to return the dog. He returned the dog. He deserves to get beaten up. What the fuck?
I find it so cute how you are raging so much that you take the time to downvote! XD
You muppet I took the name to fuck with someone else! I love how people try to use it against me. Shows how pathetic they are.
... Because they knew and he didn't.
From the story, It would seem like this was more than 1 day later.
You can tell the difference in health between a stray and a dog with a home. And a pure bred golden is not a dog that gets abandoned often.
Imgur mob mentality
Posters were in every drive through, gas station, convenience store, pet store, vet, grocery store, liquor store and on 2 radio stations
I hope they use a sledgehammer.
Bless your heart...
BLESS YOUR HEART...
i ask people that too when they want children... entire africa also has this problem
But... Only AFTER... again, not everyone pays attention to posters, or listens to radio, pays at pump, doesn't do fast food. etc..
lol what do you think renaming means? he was buying a collar for the poor abandoned doggo he found, and the petsmart told him it was missed
A dog like that and you assume it doesn't have an owner? Renaming meant that they were trying to keep the dog, seems way too fishy.
ug, you're retarded. but so are all those people on imgur who find dogs and steal them, so not unexpected.
"he looked dirty and acts like he was mistreated, i think he was dumped. we're taking my new dog to get a collar tomorrow."
didn't see the lost dog posters
imgur is just asshats who assume the worst. i bet the poor guy came home and deleted a post about how he rescued a dumped and abused dog
I've worked with animal shelters & vet clinics for years. Even when they are dirty, grimy, and bloody you can usually tell they are a pet.
I don't think that applies here, the dog in this album isn't nearly as in bad shape as that one, I wouldn't think a dog like that didn't
have an owner, in contrast to the dog with split pads and in rough condition.
some of the scruffiness is just how that dog looks, and they can get like that (split pads, skinny, dirty) amazingly quickly on their own.
although it wasn't the best example. i just picked it from a million others as the first search result, but in that one
they actually did check to see if a dog like this had been reported lost in their neighborhood. most of those posts don't think to try
Well sure, you can, cuz you've worked at shelters and clinics for years. The rest of us aren't used to seeing bloody/dirty/grimy pets.
Found the dog after 5, vet was closed so I had to keep it overnight and take it in the morning.
Yeah these guys were painting a hiuse across the street and they had a big, windowless van with them.
I’m not in the US!
That's why I asked where you are :P
Thank you! I thought it could be slang or something.
Oh haha no, but I see how it can be read like that.
