When you fly into Phoenix and step outside of the airport...
Welcome to Arizona.
|About||1 month ago|
I liked it better when Riddick was just a murderer
Me, as a Swede, when its 25 C outside
1/4 of the way to boiling, but I don't remember boiling in freedom units
Atleast its a cool 91 today and were getting rain. Im so excited for rain.
I didn't realize Linus Roach was in that movie.
As an Alaskan with Swedish ancestry, same.
No.. it's only about 78 F
Been here 18 months and I never thought I’d agree with that statement after growing up in Chicago and torrential downpours.
Nice to meet you. Richard B. Riddick. Convict. Murderer
You're right. I thought it was 35C. Oops.
I'm from FL, it would be like leaving an airport that looks like this scene to fly to another airport like this scene with different sand.
212 freedoms to boiling.
Where is this from?
You thought it was about tree fiddy.
I love our thunderstorms.
Yeah, though I was curious about the whole Furion thing
Goddamn Loch Ness Monster!
Indiana jones and the raiders of the lost ark
Windy day in phoenix today.
Vegas is simmiler
I don't envy Florida, the heat with humidity is unbearable, the "dry heat" starts to just feel like a blanket. Except in cars.
My friend was wondering what movie this is...
Well, it is an arbitrary piece of trivia with little practical value.
After you run in an all out sprint to the next terminal to a connecting flight
Is that Prince from Lexx?
The Chronicles of Riddick
Looks like him, but nope.
He was good in law & order, but he’ll always be the fucking necromonger purifier to me
No. Actor is Linus Roach.
You are the most helpful person during pub trivia, aren't ya?
Am in Phoenix. Can confirm.
I'm mildly surprised no one has posted Bobby Hill yet
That's why Butcher Bay and even Riddick worked so well.
as a Yuman, fuck yes
Hell yeah, looked at my thermostat and it said 92, heard the rain drops on my sunroof in the bathroom. Arizona snow day, lol.
Riddick, I don't feel so good....
But it rained and was cloudy today, so it was a cool, breezy 92!
I move to Phoenix in two weeks, and I keep seeing posts like this. I've lived my whole life in PA and NY. It's 57° outside right now.
i've never actually seen anything other than the chronicles. How many are there?
I felt this way landing in Vegas. 10pm and 85f. Ugh
Lol...thanks for the heads up...my flight arrives sunday. Cant be worse than the middle east..127 degrees with 150% humidity.
I had to use my wipers on the way home from work. For like 2 whole strokes... At least it wasn't 113 like yesterday.
Hahaha Nacho Pete. I like that.
@op welcome to AZ! From a Gilbert fellow
As someone who lives here already...I apologize for everything you'll learn to hate. Drivers, Traffic, Heat, Dehydration, and needing 1/
heavy duty gloves to drive in the summer (Buy those quickly when you get here. You'll need them) 2/2
It started with “pitch black”
Wait, his name is Dick Riddick?
you got some cat hair in ya fan bro
Conqueror, king, survivor.
Butcher's Bay is the best by FAR, btw.
It was nice today though, a cloudy 94 outside. Even "rained" for like 2 minutes
For me.....King Ecbert. The ill-fated.
That’s when I’m like, mm I can finally take off this sweater, but I better bring along a jacket because it gets chilly at night!
Also me, as a Canadian.
You definitely don't wanna come back to Chicago right now man lol
just watched this film yesterday +1
Admittedly, that’s a pretty cool way to die. Wait, no...
It was actually overcast and drizzly here in Phoenix today. We had double digit humidity!
Chronicles of Riddick. A sequel to Pitch Black, and there's a 3rd called Riddick.
Keep a towel in your car to drape over the steering wheel when parked. It will make your life much less painful.
I moved to Texas from pa 3 years ago. You don't have to shovel when it's hot out!
we had some rain today...then it was hot and humid. I may not like the heat but the south has it worse.
I know they made one after that just titled Riddick. But I believe there was a film before Chronicles, too. But I don't know the title.
I thought it was just titled "Raiders of the Lost Ark".
you must have a really really solid reason to move to this hell on earth
Also a short animation about the events in between Pitch black and Chronicles.
The last time I flew into PHX the captain came on PA and said "Welcome to Phoenix, the surface of the Sun." It was 115 degrees outside.
I was advised to get a fabric steering wheel cover and a windshield sun screen
I love the Riddick series. So good.
You mean u don't like that he and his 'fam' somehow have backstories that make them hackers, spies, wealthy, terrorists, and defy physics?
Way I see it, I'm trading hiding indoors in the winter for hiding indoors in the summer.
Would a fabric steering wheel cover do me any good?
Can confirm the heat in the valley will end most people pretty quick. I recommend wide-brimmed hats and literal gallons of water.
Get one of the ones that has a spring in it and coils up. Not the folding foil ones. Those things turn into glitter-shit in about 1 summer.
Thanks for the advice. Considering the timing on the move these are things I probably want to deal with in advance.
That is if your flight even lands since one of the runways is under construction
And MAKE SURE YOU USE IT! and park with the windshield into the sun. And crack the windows. And gloves still help even with the cover.
Its not a great movie, but it is a guilty pleasure flick. The Riddick character is pretty cool.
After 8 years in the valley, I love the summer and look forward to it. A Southwest Monsoon is a wonderful thing to witness.
In some cases they can, but be aware it will fade and degrade fairly quickly. Our UV index is roughly 3 orders of magnitude off the scale.
No. I went to college and got an art degree. Pennsyltucky has no job prospects. Friends moving to AZ, I'm following to try my luck out west
its supposed to start again tonight up here in Scottsdale :)
Some people... are too young to have seen or remember... We are getting old.
Man, it seems really appropriate that I'm reading the Dune series right now.
Its beautiful here, I love this city. Pm me if you want some tips on things to see while you're here!
A Focus Camp...
Hah, I said the same thing
Pitch Black. Better than Chronicles IMO
spit on it before you fly in please
Finn here, can confirm. Even 20C feels awfull
That's beanie weather to me
Minnesota has been in the 90°s for weeks!
Nope, only got me hot and bothered.
Went to Alaska in August and came back to Raleigh, Those sliding doors opened and felt the rage of summers humidity
me (Brit) when it's at least 20C in any environment
Say what you want about the movie..but this guy went out like a fucking bad ass!
As old as the dust upon the sands of time my friend
In Phoenix area Arizona, can confirm that everyone drives like they're high on meth here. The summers are oppressive.
Im just sitting in here in disbelief that king ecbert and the necromonger purifier were played by the same person. I can't believe it lol
Butcher's Bay: Bust out of space prison with Ron Perlman
I'm still not convinced that Phoenix is a real place. It can't be!
I didn't notice it till you mentioned it.. And now I see mine is due for cleaning
This city is a testament to mankind's ignorance
Can confirm; currently in Arizona.
Be prepared to go through shoes and tires much faster. Pavement = bad, shade = friend. Sunblock, water, and shade; or you'll die.
I haven't seen any of them yet but heard the lengths Vin Diesel went to make these movies happen, are they worth marathoning?
I've wa5ched this movie more than 20 times, and it still holds up in my book.
I was ganna say more clouds in the sky today.
Northen Swede here. I hate anything above 0°C.
That was the most powerful part of any of those movies.
the B stands for Butt
DICK BUTT RIDDICK
3, but the third one is exactly the same as the first one.
Arizona rocks - but Phoenix... not so much. Winter is nice tho. Flagstaff is where it’s at.
Looks about right. I'm running away to Colorado in August, thank God
the last one is pitch black over again just without the charm, has bautista tho
Yeah, the first movie was simpler and tighter.
this is what I imagine it being like. Especially when my canadian boyfriend goes to visit our Arizona friends.
"Riddick" was pretty good, if just a ripoff of the first movie. The first half hour made me REALLY fucking want a sci-fi remake of Castaway.
Wait till it's 90. At night. And the sun is out.
I was there at 9:30pm in March, and it was 41 degrees Celsius outside, don't understand how anyone lives there
Yes! Well, at least I think they are
We can get that as well.
I’m only 15 and I know
Uncultured swines these days...
All the movies say Indiana Jones (actual title here)
July 1st '01 i stepped outside Skylab and turned around and went back inside just bc I'm from Texas doesn't mean i need that in my life.
I would pay to see this movie
As a Texan, nice try kiddo. I cooked an egg on the dash of my truck at 9am today. Next time, I try bacon and remember to get pics
But yeah, 'Zona is pretty damn hot too
It's really not that bad if you properly acclimate.
But the average American (great lakes areas aside) freezes below 0C.
I think thats what made it good
Toronto here. thermostat is set permanently at 20 C
On a scale of 1-10, can I have $5?
They are great!
QC here. Didn't get any rain but got a decent amount of wind and overcast so I'll take it.
Hahahaha, prepare your anus. It is NOT fucking around out there y'all.
I stuck my head out of the car like I dog....I AM NOT ASHAMED
I read through all the comments... no one is going to say but it's a dry heat? No one? Really?
As a phoenician who moved out of state, i can confirm this happens everytime i go back.
Did that skeleman just blink? With eyes?
well, you're not wrong
And like darth maul, the character was ruined by speech.
It's those kinds of mistakes that crash probes into Mars O_O
Had a layover in Phoenix on my way to Orange County, CA and I agree, as soon as I steeled out it felt like an oven.
it can be +30 or -30 in Calgary and it's all good to me lol
It’s only 114. K
Pitch Black is really good
Michelle Jenneke is the Anna Kournikova of athletics.
Arizona resident... I doubt I'd survive your winter. I have no idea how to handle cold like that.
Just needs someone screaming, "it's a dry heat."
He's a doctor in real life. Thomas Wayne. Look him up.
I was going to say, Ive only been to Phoenix on flights that land after sunset. But this reminded me of Vegas.
Does it just monsoon when it rains or do you get normal rain?
What else would it blink with, it’s rib cage?
Its either a light drizzle or a full blown monsoon. Usually not much in between. I heard monsoon is supposed to start early this year.
Ahwatukee here. Looks like its not supposed to hit until like 3am.
Flew there last week.. can verify this is correct
As a native Phoenician. I concur. At least we have monsoons though!
Rob Halford is lit AF
Was actually nice and overcast today. Rest of the week, gif about sums it up...
Have been to Phoenix. Can confirm, did die.
I landed in Vegas around midnight once, but it was in August so stepping out of the airport felt like walking into an oven.
Now that I think of it, phoenix trips werent summer (dont hate myself) Vegas was EDC in June, still 100+ at night.
Could drink 2-3L of water per hour, and still not have to use the portapot for hours.
That’s Thomas Wayne.
buy silver car
Rather have dry heat than high humidity heat.
Walking outside during the Phoenix summer feels like opening an oven full of cookies, but there are no cookies and you hate yourself.
Just wait until next month when it actually gets hot. (About ten degrees hotter) Then the fun begins.
And they are true...you've never felt heat until you live in Phoenix. The good news...away from the city...beautiful wide-open country.
I moved to Las Vegas and there are people here wearing PANTS. How do you become so acclimated to 110 degrees that you can wear PANTS in it?
then there's this whole series with Riddick doing the street racing, like 10 movies man, it's crazy
I’m a yuman too! Can confirm..... instant combustion.
Never saw this Eminem movie
Knock it off, Hudson!
"I don't feel so good..." -him probably
It's a dry heat
Yeah, but it's a dry heat.
Well it was 43 in Phoenix today
Oh god the humanity! Were you commuting on the freeway/I-10 or surface streets?
Come to MN 6 months out of the year and that sand you see will be replaced by freezing, body numbingly cold pellets/water shrapnel.
Pants and long sleeves are actually cooler if you're outside for a while. I worked as a groundskeeper for 3 years in Chandler.
I don't even own one pair of shorts.
Stop your fucking whine, din jävla vekling
I can't remember the last time I saw less than 50%. t. NZFag.
In my mind heat is much worse. You can always dress against the cold. Added bonus with cold weather is a fresh bedroom with easy sleep.
I've never seen the appeal personally.
I remember seeing that at the cinema, it was so good.
Im cultured and Im 26. Watched an all on VHS! Kingdom of Crystal Skull gave me cancer comparatively to the originals
The people entering college this year are too young to remember 9/11
But its a dry heat
Prepare for double that heat by the end of next month
Why would I ever go to Arizona though?
I want the last Riddick movie to happen
Raiders of the lost ark was changed afterwards on covers and stuff
That movie was just brilliant
It was fun flying back home & seeing all the tourists vastly overdressed for the heat as they stepped outside the airport for the first time
Everytime I came off leave
pitch black -> chronicals -> riddick short -> riddick
that's back when he was stuck on this shitty planet called "earth" for a while
Same. The 3rd film was just a Vin Diesel jerk off fest. Chronicles was a lot better
yea I like all 3. It is the perfect role for vin diesel which is why he risked so much to buy the rights to the movies so he owns it
yes, but it'll still get very hot. I'd still definitely get one, like a fluffy one to dissipate the heat
watch pitch black then the chronicles of riddick then riddick. there's 3 movies
Not me, when it rains here, its just 91 and hella humid.
It's a dry blehhhh...
FL here. meh.
Last time I was in Yuma, AZ it got all the way up to 50 C.
& some parts - if it's just a drizzle- sometimes the water won't even reach the ground you can go outside and watch them evaporate midair.
Nah it's great. A few months a year its super hot, at least its sunny when it's shitty here. And you are 2 hours from the mountains.
Upstate NY and you'll probably be just fine as long as you make sure to always have water with you. & know that summer (90+ °F) is April-Oct
As someone currently living there...I wish it wasn't. (but I grew up in the PNW so yeah...)
Covering is wanted so your legs don't get either instantly sunburnt or pelted with sand/dirt. Most people hop from a/c place to a/c place.
The temp differences can mess with you after a while.
How do you not notice that ????
Left Phenix 2 weekends ago in the morning, was 100 degrees. Hiked Flagstaff and got snowed on. Back in time for dinner.
going into the bathroom after my husband
well it is monsoon season now, -tucson
Be fucking too, man. I was sweating at 20 today...
How do you handle the heat? When I'm naked I can't take more off to cool down, but when it's cold I can just put more on.
But it's dry heat.....
It's the reason the first film worked. Making him the Chosen One in some space opera singularly failed to understand the key dynamics.
That's kinda what The Martian is.
What’s this from
With his eyes probably
Only the first one is considered "good". Chronicles is entertaining but goes way too hollywood. 3 tries to be 1 again but ends up kinda meh
Now that really made me laugh. Thanks.
Tbh I'm cold if it's below 70F (like 22C?). I live in SoCal where the summer is 125F and I love it. Shorts and a T-shirt, nights are 85-90F.
And the Cartoon Movie.
I live in Denmark, we've just been through a bit of a too hot period. Up to 30°C (86°F).
And me as a Brit to be honest.
Always Ecbert. He was so good.
Im sad. It went around the city as usual. So its just going to be hot and humid the next few days.
Yeah but no alien life.
I'm comfortable in the very narrow range of 18c-21c. I can survive up to 25c, and down to -30c. Outside that I instantly seize functioning.
ACTUALLY. Last time I knew the answer to the sexiest man that year (2017, The Rock) and was told absolutely not by all the women in the (1/2
I use this analogy all the time to describe the mornings here in Texas, I find not too many people know Riddick. WTF?
Group and I will never let that go. I'm a guy who never follows celebs btw - think I saw it on a magazine cover in passing a few days prior
How it feels like going into production environment at the job.
1) Air conditioning and ceiling fans. Granted I'll have power bills that will be around 3000 Danish Krone this summer. So there's that.
2) In the garage building stuff last week. Around 38-39C. You sweat but it's dry so it evaporates and cools . Not bad out of the sun really.
Thank you for his name! I knew i recognized him in something recent. He's the English King in Vikings. Does an amazing job!
It was a good seriers. I rather enjoyed it...Right up until they made Arrakis wet.
What's really funny about that is, I drive for Uber as a side gig, and my worst backseat driver was from New York, (No driver's license at1/
all, ever) was bitching about how I was doing a horrible job of driving because I slammed on my brakes when someone cut me off on the 202 2/
and 'Bruised her shoulder'. And she refused to listen to the logic where me coming to a screeching halt a foot from the dumbass' bumper 3/
is an infinitely better outcome than stopping AFTER I run them over. 4/4
Came back from visiting my home state(MN), that's how I felt!
Coming north on the 101 from Chandler.
but its a dry heat. so is an oven, dont want to stick my head in one. Also its not Always dry. I hate when we get humidity too.
First one is action/horror, second is sci-fantasy, third is action/adventure. They're all pretty fun but don't expect consistent themes.
That is why recordings exist. It's never too late to watch movies older than you!
This movie tried so hard to be bad. But I love it!
I do have a silver car
FLy to philippines
Sounds like a sci-fi movie. Weird.
Implying I would ever voluntarily go to Arizona.
THIS SUMMER, The only man who can defeat SPACE VIN DIESEL is... HIMSELF
what, you didn't like Riddck Vs shitty Sithlords?
For the first half of the movie, sure. I thought the rest felt kind of underwhelming as a result.
I mean, there's 4 shorts if you want to get technical
And then to Chronicles of Riddick and to Riddick
Someone make this
Omg yes... u have to live here to get it. Outsiders can’t comprehend.
Could of had 2 furions, but nooo
I love pitch black and riddick, and to a lesser degree, chronicles of riddick, and no one else has seen them :c
The Riddick films are like The 13th Warrior, I love them and it seems like no one else has seen them.
I would pay you to see this movie
too busy lookin at the pussy
They always say: “Well, it’s a dry heat.” Yeah, well so is a house fire.
Cool..thank everyone, you all made my movie selection for the night.
Wait, the last line is Peggy's? Dammit, I thought it was always Bobby.
I can see that
You're right. The alien life in Castaway was the best part.
I feel just going to work, only reason I'm still alive is my family is
When it was first released, raiders did not have "Indiana Jones" in the title.
