Sweet Finesse shifts
Imgur was meant for exactly this +1
It's meant for show. Watch his legs, they don't move.
He even did gear on neutral
Done properly it is not necessary to use the clutch to shift. Careful throttle control is the key.
He is as straight as a mountain road
Looks like he goes through neutral for every shift but never stays on it
its not proper but it is easier to drive bigger trucks with watching your rpm and not touching the clutch only for starting and stopping.
It's called floating. You learn how driving semis or transmissions that don't have synchros.
Can't see his left leg very well. Unable to tell.
I'm proud to be the first person who upvoted this.
Guessing you're well acquainted with your local mechanic
Is this a key and peele skit?
I like to think he has mastered the art of perfectly matching the engine revs so no longer needs the clutch.
Apparently truck driver do it. People who drive insane amounts.
Yup, and when you do it correctly it's extremely smooth. Get it wrong and you bring your gearbox to shit though.
That's scania comfort shift in action. Long live the swedes!
The clutch in my civic was going out when I was delivering pizzas in college, that was the only way I could make it through a shift. 1/2
That is until I got paid and could get it replaced. Praise Talos for tips, otherwise I wouldn't have had enough money for food for 2 weeks.
Straight as a nine bob note!
It's perfectly proper if you do it right, if you don't it's very much not proper.
Semi truck transmissions are designed quite a bit differently from those in regular cars. Floating gears works for trucks, ruins cars.
Rev match or about to stop
I'm guessing bus transmission would be closer to trucks than cars then?
Like some advanced hand job technique
You don't need to move your legs very much to use the clutch.
I call bullshit on so smoothly working manual at public transport bus
So THAT'S where they get the sound effects for martial arts movies.
Calm down, Ip Man.
Calm down Naruto
I'm proud to be the 100th person who upvoted this.
i would so like to clock his face.
It's easier in semis and buses than in cars. The engines run at a much lower rpm to the gap is easier to find
Looka tha flicka dat wrist
Well, the Mazda MX5 is renowned for a short shift...
They don't need to move, that's the Scania Comfort Shift transmission you're seeing.
Scania Comfort Shift transmission, for those who are still amazed.
Does anybody else see the face peeking out from behind thesteering wheel?
He's deciding the best remark that will place him in the most media outrage
Well now I do! Thanks!
I rarely love a gif
Man that bus has a shorter shift than my Focus ST lol
Every fanst & furious movie
If you listen carefully you can hear the sound of gears grinding.
Scania Comfortshift for all those wondering what it is
Scania Comfortshift, it doesn't use linkages, this just sends an electronic signal to the gearbox
GR801, I've rebuilt many of those trannys
Guess the games aren't selling well, Slenderman had to get a day job.
It is scania comfortshift. It works like that
Really hate people like that
The lil' wank saved it
I’m proud to live in a country where I can vote at all.
Fuckin handhob at the end killed me
Yaaas!!! STARKID for life!!
is it double clutch or is he just doing it like that for fun?
You’re mistaking him for Piers Morgan
me, after seeing my last date IRL for the frist time …
Be nice to mechanical things
I drive Scania. So the fact that that is a Scania he drives does indeed amaze me
With the way thing s are going I'm not sure that's going to last long
And that's why we invented the clutch.
and I thought the original couldn't get better
Wait its by-wire? Not mechanical? If so, why not have paddle shifts behind steering wheel? I get by-wire, I don't get why leave stick. 1/2
Ah, your Shift-Fu is quite impressive!
It's Captain Marvel!!
Precious he is
Wouldnt something like that have an autoclutch? I mean, a smart has it.
Also, im not sure id totally trust it to stay in a gear after a few years.
Scania Comfort Shift, you pre-select the gear before clutching in
Performance issues. Not uncommon. 1 out of 5.
'Picking fetish' or what? LOL
Damn is this some Naruto jutsu technique or something?
I've never heard of that, you put the shifter in the gear you want then when you clutch it pops in?
Well, you got that sayin proper wrong, mate.
Pretty much. They're pigs to work on.
What's that? A stick-fu?
Mike Pence* FTFY M8
I'm hearing Sade's Smooth Operator
Dude looks like he took to much E
Nah, just the slow bending of shift-forks. Until the synchros fail....then the grinding!
i love this guy
That casual wrist flip at the end.
If you haven't jerked your car off, you've never driven a stick.
Imgur is one a copy of a copy...this gif was posted a couple days ago. Other shifter gif and similar comments lol
I love it.
Alright, just take my damn upvote. See you in asshole heaven.
From an ergonomic point of view that's a really bad shifter location. Too extreme flexing of wrist or shoulder
Trying to find reverse
When she asks for another round
no. its a half-automatic. it only shifts for you when you press the clutch. maximum control. i loved it when i drove it.
i actually started beamng drive and burned a clutch just to get this image
I imagine he was super excited about using this assist instead of those big fuckers that are harder to move around.
that is some camp gear changing
Paddles mean you can only shift sequentially. You can skip gears with an H-pattern.
Looks like A-Rod hit some hard times...
the way they teach it where im from. and in order to get your license to drive truck and trailer you need to double clutch/use clutch.
Nah, I still would like to clock him.
OMG, that is so FABULOUS!!!!!!!!
This is 90s tech, first of the by wire
