I hope it gets to front page
"I'm afraid that's me, darling."
Movie has his own class
Where's boy with apple?
My all time favorite movie.
One of the best films I've ever seen. Ralph Fiennes is brilliant.
A bit of an understatement, don't you think darling.
Never watched. Should I make the effort?
Without a doubt
3 simple words: Definitely!
Was looking for Michael Cera or Mr Bean in this photo. I miss seeing those posts.
Depends, do you like Wes Anderson films? If you do, yes. If you dont, no.
I feel like an outcast not liking Wes Anderson films, just too slow. Quirky is a good trait in a film but shouldnt be the ENTIRE film
Is the movie better than the beginning..? People seem to like it but I turned it off
HOLY SHIT YOU GOT HIM!
If I may suggest The Royal Tenenbaums then
Hey that's not "boy with apple" they're looking at, what is it?
You know what’s worthless junk? Wes Anderson movies..
There are still glimmers of civilization left in the slaughterhouse known as humanity. Its what we provide in our humble... oh, fuck it.
I sat in awe of it, so beautifully made, brilliantly acted, wonderfully written, incredibly funny.
Love this movie
The ever-present classy and tame quirkiness is what defines his style. I don't see people get tired of quips and jokes in superhero movies.
Ive seen it quite funny
Superhero movies also have a ton of explosions and action to retain interest
Haha i couldn't think of a good response sadly +1 for yours
And that's why these cater to different audiences. Not everyone has ADHD.
ADHD aside some of us watch movies to be entertained and not for 2 hours of trying to stay awake with an occcasional 'heh, I get it'
I'm not saying your taste in movies is shit, just different, like all people are.
Ofcourse this will get to the FP. This movie was an absolute sensation.
Did he just throw my cat out the window?
Awesome movie! And an elliott smith song in it too!
I didn't know what to expect, but it was just wonderfully bizarre. So intelligent. The skiing scene was my favourite
I and goldblum had the same face in the cat scene
What has the painting been edited to? I can't make it out on my potato screen.
I went to a secret cinema event for it in London. It was an amazing immersive experience. I got too drunk before the actual film though!
My brain about the rest of my body.
My favourite movie no doubt.
Isle of Dogs is another great wes Anderson film you should check out
Super hero movies are boring simply because of that. Some people want great storytelling, writing and acting and not just a bunch of semi >
Seconded. Normally, I cannot stand WA's films. However, this was one phenomenal in every regard.
Intelligent one liners and generic explosions which tbh get boring pretty fast. It kind of suck that all movies seem to become the same.
Usually when you compare someones taste in movies to 'ADHD' it isnt seen as a compliment.
I dont see how you get any of that from Wes Anderson as his movies seem to go nowhere but they are...artsy? I dont know what the draw is
I want to know too
I loved it and every other Wes Anderson movie. But the style may not be for everyone.
Noooo, did he ? No...
I usually suggest starting with Rushmore... It seems a little more mainstream to me than the rest, but still introduces the style of humor
Ah yes, Boy With Apple, a masterpiece indeed!
It's probably Wes Anderson's best work, and it helps if you're okay soaking in the atmosphere of a film as well as its' direct narritive
It's a very bittersweet story, and well worth the watch
I get that, the idea with GBH and all his other movies is you're supposed to soak it in rather than pull it apart. Every movie is going
for a really specific emotion or idea, and it takes a long time to build up to that.
Let's change the subject, I'm leaving.
It picks up, the bulk of the movie doesn't follow that narritive style
Yes. Nothing more to be said.
to be fair, Wes Anderson Is his own genre of movies. Like Taratino has his own as well
One of my absolute favoutites ❤
That is a good explanation! I suppose my problem is I just dont like his style well enough to sit through the build up (personal opinion)
What's it about?
A hotel and life in general. Highly recommended.
Always upvote Wes Anderson
Grand Budapest = Grandly overrated
What is this movie called? :p
The Concierge of an extravagant hotel is charged with the murder of one of his wealthiest clients. Shenanigans ensue.
Monsieur Gustave was also the most liberally perfumed man I have ever known. His arrival was announced before he entered a room, 1/
And his presence lingered several minutes after his departure.
Fiennes stole the show for me.
L’Air de Panache!
It does still carry several overt and subtle chef d'oeuvre dry humour jokes which are either histerical or go over the heads of viewers.
Where is it!!! The original post
The cat has every right to be afraid :(
Cool. I'll check it out
Shaking like a shitting dog.
Most superhero movies don’t go anywhere either. Same old tale in a new package to suck the audience dry.
Well I'll agree with you there but it's like a rollercoaster, sure you wind up at the same spot but it's an entertaining ride
What does it say?
Shenanigans is the perfect word for what goes on in Wes' movies
Me too! I love Wes Anderson movies. Just watched Isle of Dogs
I think Tarantino relies more heavily on diving as deep into a genre as he can and twisting it out to subvert certain tropes within the /1
Genre as opposed to having his own. He's the very definition of a chameleon director, the David Bowie of film, if you will. It's rather /2
His knowledge of almost every movie in these genres that he uses to make his films so great. Kill Bill is the epitome of a grindhouse 1/
(that's not 1 that's 3) revenge film painted over as a classic Kung-fu film, for example. /4
It's an inanimate fucking object
+1 for user name
I worked with a kid that got angry with anyone that pronounced it Budapest & not Budapesht. It was hilarious when this movie came out.
A contrasting opinion to the others below; to me, the film felt like I was eating spoonfuls of marzipan. Eventually it got too much.
I get tired of the quips and jokes in superhero movies.
In what frickin order am i supposed to read these
The Dog movie he just released is excellent.
Don't worry. You're not the only one.
Luckily I married one who feels the same! And I realize the futility of voicing this opinion on a post that literally praises his work.
Voldemort & Flash Thompson did a heck of a job acting in this film
Is about time you got off your lazy keester and watched that mofo! That's what it's "about".
Yes. Most art doesn't move me, but loved this artistic movie.
Heeey, that makes two of us.
I couldn't finish that movie, thought it was so dull. same with most of his movies. Shame.
Like an eagle with a horse whip in its talons...also, username relevant!!!
Only Wes Anderson movie I truly enjoyed.
I don't enjoy his movies, I loved GB.
Took me ages as it really looked liek an arty farty film, but my god was it both funny and tragic!
I like a lot of them, but loathed Darjeeling limited. Does this one have likable characters and an interesting narrative?
Always upvote Monsieur Gustave
This movie went over my head completely. I feel like I'm not cultured enough to comprehend such a masterpiece.
Hard to believe this is the same guy who played Amon Goeth
way. They had SO much fun making that movie
It's bugging me but we still have no good answers
Isle of Dogs
still in my Netflix queue
"You filthy, goddamned, pock-marked, fascists assholes, take your hands off my lobby boy!"
Something about how random that was made me bust out laughing.
Never seen it. Should I watch it?
What’s the painting?? And the writing??
Everyone has their own tastes, it's cool
it really was great
It's well worth a watch. Fantastic movie.
ahhh okay, maybe i'll give it a second chance then
It was pretty good. The cast was a bit surprising.
